The apartment at Casa Contini was a delightful surprise. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by a fully equipped kitchenette, ready to cater to our culinary needs. And let me tell you, cooking in that kitchenette was like creating a masterpiece on a mini canvas. It had all the bells and whistles, just like a professional studio, but with a touch of cozy charm. We felt like master chefs in our own little world.
Shower faucet inconsistency.

The bus to Altamura conveniently stops 600m from the property, perfect for a day trip. The sandy beaches of Metaponto Lido are only a 45-minute drive away, if you don't mind getting sand everywhere.
It's such a shame they didn't have a private helicopter pad, it would have made my arrival so much easier.

I took the A bus and got lost in Altamura, then drove for 45 minutes to Metaponto Lido for a sandy beach. Casa Contini was 300 meters from Matera Cathedral. Parking was free and the house had a seating area.
Oh, staying at Casa Contini was just terrible, I loved everything about it. Definitely not my cup of tea.

I had the most incredible experience staying at Casa Contini in Matera. The apartment was like stepping back in time, with beautifully preserved heritage and original equipment that gave it a unique and charming atmosphere. The apartment was spacious, impeccably clean, and had a well-equipped kitchen. I was blown away by the exceptional service provided by Lorenzo, the host. He met us at the parking lot outside of Matera, arranged shuttle bus tickets, and even delivered our luggage to the apartment. It truly went above and beyond my expectations. The owner of the hotel was incredibly helpful and accommodating. They waited for us upon our late arrival, and even arranged free parking in the city. They provided us with a list of recommendations to explore the city, which was very helpful. The location of the hotel was fantastic, right in the heart of the historic district. The hotel itself was well-equipped and exceeded our expectations.
Finding a place to eat on a Sunday was a bit challenging, as some restaurants were rude and unaccommodating.

The location of the holiday home was absolutely perfect! Just a short walk away from Matera Cathedral and the MUSMA Museum, we were able to immerse ourselves in the rich history and culture of the Sassi neighborhood. It felt like stepping back in time, wandering through the narrow streets and exploring the rustic-style accommodations in Sasso Caveoso. And when we wanted to venture further, a bus stop just 600 meters away took us to Altamura, a charming town that felt like a hidden gem.
Street noise at night.
